About this product
Whitefish is Finland's noblest lake fish, whose silvery appearance and refined flavor make it a favorite for festive tables. This salmonid fish lives in clean, cool waters and feeds on plankton and bottom-dwelling organisms. Whitefish's fatty, white flesh has a soft flavor and is excellent for smoking.

Harvesting and availability
Whitefish is caught with nets and traps mainly in autumn during spawning season. Best locations are clean lakes and river mouths. In winter, also caught by ice fishing.
Storage and handling
Fresh whitefish keeps in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. Frozen, it stores for 3-4 months due to fat content. Smoked, it keeps for about a week.
